Views: 213 Discussions focus on investment opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, mineral resources, and technology A bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, expanding investment opportunities and fostering mutually beneficial business relationships between Sri Lanka and the State of Montana in the United States of America was successfully held recently (09) at the Bilateral Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism. The meeting was held between Mr. Greg Gianforte, Governor of the State of Montana, and Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka. Discussions focused on several key sectors with potential to strengthen economic ties between the two parties. The discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining favourable and stable economic policies to attract investment to Sri Lanka, while exploring opportunities to attract foreign investment and establish direct connections between the business communities of Sri Lanka and Montana. Key areas discussed included expanding market opportunities for agricultural products, developing facilities for the collection and storage of agricultural produce, and facilitating the exchange of modern technologies. The meeting also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation between manufacturing industries and industrial enterprises in Sri Lanka and Montana, while examining the potential of mineral-based industries and the information technology sector.Furthermore, the possibility of organising a visit by a Sri Lankan business delegation to Montana was discussed, with the aim of enabling Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and business representatives to gain a deeper understanding of investment and commercial opportunities available in the state. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Eric S. Meyer, Ambassador of the United States of America to Sri Lanka, together with members of the American delegation. Among the participants were Ms. Marta Bertoglio, Director of the Montana Department of Commerce; Ms. Jillian Streit, Director of the Montana Department of Agriculture; and Ms. Deena Mansour, representing the University of Montana.The meeting marked an important opportunity to identify avenues for expanding economic ties between Sri Lanka and Montana and to explore prospects for strengthening future cooperation in trade, investment, and technology.
