ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෘත්තීය ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ සංගමය (SLWJA) සහ ජාත්‍යන්තර ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ සම්මේලනය (IFJ) එක්ව සංවිධානය කරන ලද කාන්තා මාධ්‍යවේදිනියන් සඳහා වූ නායකත්ව කුසලතා සහ ධාරිතා සංවර්ධනය අරමුණු කරගත් පුහුණු වැඩමුළුවක් පසුගිය දා (7) කොළඹ නිපොන් හෝටලයේදී පැවැත්විණි.

මෙම වැඩමුළුව සඳහා සම්පත් දායකයන් ලෙස ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ මාධ්‍යවේදී ලසන්ත රුහුණගේ, ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෘත්තීය ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති දුමින්ද සම්පත් සහ මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකු මෙන්ම පර්යේෂකයෙකු ලෙස ද කටයුතු කරන සම්පත් සමරකෝන් යන මහත්වරුන් එක් විය.

ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන් ලෙස කාන්තාවන් සවිබල ගන්වන්නේ කෙසේද යන්න සහ වෘත්තීය අයිතිවාසිකම් සුරැකීමේ මුලපිරීම් සඳහා කාන්තා සහභාගීත්වය ඉහළ නංවා ගන්නේ කෙසේද යන්න මෙම වැඩමුළුවේ දී ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් සාකච්ඡා විය. එසේම කාන්තාවන් නායකත්වයට පැමිණීමේදී මුහුණ දෙන දුෂ්කරතා සහ සමාජ සංස්කෘතික බාධක මෙන්ම එවැනි අවස්ථා මගහරවා ගැනීමට අනුගමනය කළ හැකි ප්‍රයෝගික විසඳුම් ද මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡාවට ලක් විය.

මෙම වැඩමුළුව හරහා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම වරට කාන්තා මාධ්‍යවේදිනියන් කණ්ඩායමක් වෙත ඩිජිටල් ආරක්ෂාව සහ AI තාක්‍ෂණය පිළිබඳ පුහුණුවක් ලබා දුන් අතර එකී තාක්ෂණය ජනමාධ්‍යකරණයේදී ඍණාත්මක හා ධනාත්මක ලෙස භාවිතා වන ආකාරය සහ කාන්තා මාධ්‍යවේදිනියන් සහ කාන්තාවන් විසින් පොදුවේ මුහුණ දෙන වෙනත් සයිබර් ආරක්ෂණ ගැටළු / හිංසන සහ ඩිජිටල් ආරක්ෂාවට සමබන්ධ වෙනත් තර්ජන ආමන්ත්‍රණය කරන්නේ කෙසේද? යන්න පිළිබඳව සහභාගීවූවන් දැනුවත් කෙරුණි.

A training workshop for women journalists, jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), was held on Saturday, 7th April at the Nippon Hotel, Colombo.

The workshop focused on developing leadership skills and building the capacity of women in the media field.
The sessions were conducted by, senior journalist Lasantha Ruhunage, SLWJA President Duminda Sampath, and journalist and researcher Sampath Samarakoon. Together, they guided discussions on empowering women and increasing their active participation in safeguarding professional rights.

The workshop also addressed the challenges and socio-cultural barriers women face in reaching leadership roles — and explored practical solutions to overcome them.
In addition, for the first time in Sri Lanka, a group of female journalists were also trained in digital security and AI technology. Participants learned how AI impacts journalism both positively and negatively, and how to stay safe from cyber security threats, online harassment, and other digital safety-related risks commonly faced by women in media and beyond.
