Massive Narcotics Haul Destroyed as “Ratama Ekata” Operation.

In a significant blow to organized crime, Police Narcotics Bureau have incinerated a massive stock of illicit drugs, marking a milestone in the ongoing nationwide crackdown titled “Ratama Ekata” (A Nation United).

On Monday, approximately 302 kilograms of narcotics were destroyed at the Laktowatta incinerator in Wanathawilluwa, Puttalam. The process was conducted under strict judicial supervision following the conclusion of relevant court proceedings.
Record-Breaking Seizures and Arrests

Since the operation’s launch on October 30, 2025, the scale of enforcement has reached unprecedented levels. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Police Narcotics Bureau, Ashoka Dharmasena, revealed that the operation is set to destroy at least 130,000 kilograms of various narcotics seized to date.

The human cost of the trade is equally stark, with police reporting, Over 160,000 suspects taken into custody. 2,500+ suspects currently held for high-level interrogation with detention Orders.

The “Ratama Ekata” initiative aims to dismantle the infrastructure of drug trafficking. The sheer volume of substances removed from the streets highlights the operation’s intensity, Heroin 1,917 kg, Crystal Meth (ICE) 1,979 kg, Cannabis 5,158 kg, Cocaine 271 kg and Cannabis Plants 7,903,470 plants has been taken into custody under Ratama Ekata operations.

Authorities emphasized that while the physical destruction of drugs is a visible victory, the focus remains on the financial deconstruction of syndicates and the long-term interrogation of key players currently under detention.
